Thomas Ellerbeck is a member of the Group Executive Committee and Group Director Corporate & External Affairs of TUI Group.
He is responsible for Politics, EU and International Relations with Destination Countries and their Governments, TUI's Global Group Communications, Environment and Sustainability and the Foundations. He is Chairman of the Board of the international TUI Care Foundation, based in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, which is active in 25 countries around the world. He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the TUI Foundation, based in Hanover.
Before joining TUI in 2013, he was Managing Director / Member of the Executive Board of Vodafone Germany and member of the global Senior Leadership Team of Vodafone Group Plc from 2006 to summer 2013. He was responsible for Group Communications and Policy, Regulatory Strategy and Antitrust, Commercial Regulation for Mobile and Fixed as well as Corporate Responsibility and Environment in the largest market of the international Vodafone Group. The Vodafone Institute for Society and Communications was founded at his initiative during this period. He was also Chairman of the Executive Board of the think tank until summer 2014.
From October 2006 to September 2016, he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Vodafone Foundation Germany - in the years 2006 to 2014 he was also Chairman of the Advisory Board.
Thomas Ellerbeck started his career in industry at Deutsche Lufthansa AG. There he was Director/Head of Media Relations and Deputy Head of Corporate Communications from January 2001 to September 2006.
His close collaboration with German President Professor Dr. Roman Herzog was formative. From 1995 to the end of 2000, he was a member of the closest advisory staff to the 7th President of the Federal Republic of Germany, initially as Deputy Spokesman for Federal President Professor Dr. Roman Herzog and later as Head of the Personal Office. Prior to that, from 1991 to 1995, he headed the press office of the State Chancellery of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania under the Prime Ministers Professor Dr. Alfred Gomolka and Dr. Berndt Seite after the reunification of Germany, and from 1992 to the end of 1994 he was Deputy Government Spokesman for Prime Minister Seite's cabinet.
