Our employees Nathalie Szazas (Sweden), Ali Chahaib (Belgium) and Mehibe Hill (England) share their football knowledge and tell us, which places to see, when visiting their country.

Nathalie Skazas: Sweden

Nathalie Skazas, Health & Safety Manager Crisis & Sustainability

What is your guess for the game tonight and why?
I believe Sweden will win with 2-1 in tonight’s game with South Korea. Why? Because we have to win.

What is the best place to watch football?
The best place to watch football is at my friend’s house: big screen TV, snacks, beers and good company.

Who will be world champion 2018?
It would be great if Sweden would end up world champion 2018, so our 3rd place in 1994 can rest in memory instead of being brought up every summer with the hit song “När vi gräver guld i USA”….

But maybe this would be more of a miracle than a qualified guess, so my final answer would be Germany.

Besides football, what does your country have to offer?
Stockholm archipelago; thousands of small islands, beautiful nature, small beaches and villages.

While exploring this area via boat you should also enjoy a traditional Swedish summer lunch where we upgrade the famous meatballs to fried herring with mashed potato and “rårörda lingon”.

Ali Chhaib: Belgium

Ali Chhaib, TUI DX Key Account Manager TUI Benelux

What is your guess for the game Belgium – Panama tonight and why?
3-1; Belgium has a great team this year with very world talents playing in the European’s Best competitions.

Who is your favorite football player?
If I have to give one name it would be definitely Kevin De Bruyne, because he has been Manchester City's best player and so influential for the team and they became the champions this year in the Premier League.

Who will be world champion 2018?
Belgium of course, with the 'new Golden Generation' – including players like Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Dries Mertens, Thibaut Courtoirs, Marouane Fellaini and Romelu Lukaku.

Are there any traditions in your country when it comes to watching soccer?
The Belgian nation has a complicated construction. Belgium is a deeply divided country, with (simply speaking) a Dutch speaking Flemish majority in the north, a French speaking Walloon minority in the south, the officially bilingual capital of Brussels, and a German minority in the East of the country. But when it comes to Football, the 4 of them become united as 1 country supporting the Red Devils and this makes it an unique experience.

Besides football, what does your country have to offer?
If you come to Belgium, try our amazing chocolate, waffles, fries and beer. Although we love our chips (nowhere in the world will you find so many chip stalls in such a small area), Belgium is also famous for its gastronomy. Did you know that per head of population, we even have as many Michelin stars as France!

Mehibe Hill: England

Mehibe Hill, Project Manager TUI Destination Experiences

What is your guess for the game Tunisia : England tonight and why?
1-2 England hopes! ... their track record is not exactly great!

What is the best place to watch football?
The park. Kids playing footy is much more fulfilling than the football pitch.

Who is your favorite football player?
I don’t really have one…. But who didn’t love Eric Cantona or Thierry Henry!

Who will be world champion 2018?
Hmmmmm…. Brazil?!

Are there any traditions in your country when it comes to watching soccer?
I’m Turkish so it’s all about stuffing as many men into a small room as possible, with a big screen. You then need to scream and wave your hands at the TV whilst ensuring there is enough whisky or beer to get you through the game! When your team wins, you spread the love by showering family with songs and a barbeque; if you lose, then it’s a sulk until recovery the next day!

Besides football, what does your country have to offer?
It’s all about food and great people. Also the beaches we have are great.
