Pandemic Positives – how the TUI Care Foundation helped in 2020

An eventful year comes to an end.

Despite all the difficult moments and challenges, we kept calm and kept going. We have changed and adapted, reorganized and set new priorities. The same applies to the TUI Care Foundation. Through the work of the organisation, we were also able to support people in tourism destinations all around the world, whose livelihoods have been destroyed by the pandemic.

So, with our sights set firmly on a brighter future, here’s an update on how the TUI Care Foundation made a positive difference last year.

The 100 Helping Hands programme was rolled out to communities in 20 tourism destinations worldwide. From support with home schooling to healthcare training and childcare to cash relief, it reached people who rely on tourism for their living who needed extra support.

On top of this, and with the help of charities and TUI employees on the ground, our Food Security programme enabled 7, 500 emergency food boxes to be delivered, helping over 20, 000 people to put food on the table.

And finally, through the Empowering Entrepreneurship initiative (funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation & Development), the TUI Care Foundation is supporting the growth and recovery of 150 tourism startups in Mexico, Kenya, Jordan and Egypt.

What a tough year for everyone. But as we head into 2021, the TUI Care Foundation will continue doing everything it can to help communities around the world who rely on tourism.
