RIU opens first hotel in Senegal

The West African country offers potential for further hotel growth.

The corporate brand RIU has opened the brand's first hotel in Senegal. RIU is thus supporting TUI Group's growth course and strengthening the group's hotel business on the African continent.

The new five-star hotel in Senegal is the Spanish hotel chain's first property in Western Africa. The Riu Baobab is also the first family-friendly five-star hotel with all-inclusive service on Pointe Sarène beach, 48 kilometers from Dakar-Blaise Diagne airport. The 502 double and family rooms and 20 swim-up suites with are spread over a main building with four floors and two annexes.

This new addition joins RIU’s six hotels in Morocco, two in Tanzania and six in Cape Verde to take the chain’s total number of establishments in Africa to 15.

Senegal offers potential for further hotel projects. The vacation destination in western Africa is also one of the potential growth regions for the global hotel brand TUI BLUE, which has just announced an expansion to over 300 hotels worldwide.
