Rain battered Brits who’ve experienced the wettest weather conditions across the nation just need to bring a brolly, that’s been broken by the relentless downpours and gusty winds, into their local store for a chance at garnering some sunnier weather.
With 1.45 million umbrellas sold annually in the UK, those that aren't tough enough to withstand Britain’s storms and tempests end up abandoned on street corners or stuffed in bins.
But TUI is tackling the issue head-on: residents in select locations simply need to bring their battered umbrellas to one of the participating stores, where it will be responsibly recycled.
In return, someone from each beleaguered town will get the chance to head to a dream holiday destination, soon replacing grey skies and puddles with sunshine and sandy beaches on a TUI holiday of their choice.
The amnesty will be running on Friday 13th February – Saturday 14th February, at TUI’s stores in St Austell, Aberdeen, Worcester, Worthing and Ebbw Vale.
