TUI Receives Three Nominations at the British Diversity Awards

TUI UK&I
  • For an outstanding contribution to diversity and inclusion, TUI UK&I have been nominated for three prestigious awards at the British Diversity Awards.
  • TUI UK&I nominated for the Diversity Team of the Year category
  • Miranda Simms nominated for the Head of Diversity, Belonging and Inclusion category
  • Andrew Kyte nominated for the Changemaker of the Year category

TUI UK&I has been nominated as Diversity Team of the Year, celebrating the company's comprehensive approach to embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) throughout its business operations and culture.

Guided by its global ‘come as you are’ culture, TUI has built an environment where every colleague feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. This commitment is backed by a DEI & Wellbeing Charter with strong leadership accountability, 13 Employee Network Groups (ENGs), a dedicated Wellbeing & Inclusion Lead (Miranda Simms), a DEI Ambassador Forum, and a central DEI Hub supporting organisation-wide engagement.

TUI's approach is rooted in colleague insight, gathered through annual engagement surveys, focus groups, live Q&As, and network sessions. This feedback directly shapes the company's priorities and programmes, including targeted training like ‘Inclusion for All’, ‘Inclusive Leader’, and neurodiversity initiatives that equip teams to foster psychological safety.

Beyond internal impact, TUI is influencing the wider travel and tourism industry through partnership, advocacy, and pioneering accessible and neuro-inclusive customer experiences.

Director of HR for TUI UK&I, Julie Tindale said: "I'm incredibly proud to see TUI shortlisted as finalists for Diversity Team of the Year at the British Diversity Awards. This nomination reflects the important work happening across TUI to embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing into our culture. It's a testament to the collective effort of our colleagues throughout the business who champion inclusion every day. From our strategic leadership to our frontline teams, everyone plays a vital role in bringing our 'come as you are' values to life."

Aside from TUI UK&I as a company, two members of staff have been nominated for individual awards also.

Miranda Simms, Wellbeing & Inclusion Lead for TUI UK and Ireland, has been nominated in the Head of Diversity, Belonging and Inclusion category, while Andrew Kyte, a Retail Travel Advisor at TUI's Lincoln store, has been nominated as Changemaker of the Year.

Since moving into her role three years ago, Miranda has been pivotal in developing and embedding the company's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) strategy across all levels of the organisation. Her work has included:

  • Leading TUI's first DEI Data Ambition, benchmarking against Census data
  • Co-designing the Senior Leadership DEI & Wellbeing Charter
  • Growing Employee Network Groups from initial foundations to 13 established groups with over 2,840 members
  • Launching the DEI Ambassador Forum with 46 colleagues championing equity
  • Creating the Neurodiversity Podcast Series

The impact of this strategy has contributed to TUI UK&I’s wider recognition of wellbeing and DE&I, with an 88% colleague pride rating and 10% increase of women in leadership positions*.

Miranda said: "When I stepped into this role, we had no centralised DEI approach. Today, inclusion is a core focus supported by our Global ‘come as you are’ strategy. I'm incredibly proud of how far we've come, but even more excited about where we're heading. This nomination reflects the collective effort of everyone at TUI who champions inclusion every day."

In TUI UK&I’s retail estate, Andrew Kyte has championed inclusion since he took on a DEI ambassador role in October 2024 and his achievements include:

  • Delivering DEI training sessions to hundreds of colleagues across 25 stores
  • Creating accessibility guides for deaf and hard-of-hearing retail colleagues
  • Gathering feedback from neurodiverse colleagues to improve customer processes
  • Taking on the role of Employee Network Lead for TUI's Caribbean & African Network

Andrew's work has also earned him recognition internally as Regional, Divisional, and Company Inspirational Hero of the Year 2025 at the TUI Retail Awards.

Andrew said: "Being nominated for this award is a tremendous honour, but the real positive is seeing the impact of driving diversity, equity, and inclusion among our front-facing colleagues. As someone who's been a Retail Travel Advisor since 2022, I know what it's like to be on the front line. I've seen first-hand from the stories and moments my retail colleagues share with me that small changes can make a massive impact on people feeling valued and supported. I'm so passionate about driving DEI to ensure every voice is heard and every person is seen and valued - because you can make a difference no matter your role or title in the business."

The British Diversity Awards shines a light on the organisations and individuals leading the way in diversity and inclusion. Their nominations are a fantastic recognition of the work Andrew and Miranda do, and every colleague whose dedication continues to shape a more inclusive TUI.
