TUI Musement reveals the top-rated destinations for boat excursions
Nearly 90% of travellers show interest in these experiences, especially those combining scenic views, swimming stops and visits to different islands

Beyond the beach, more and more travellers are looking to discover their destinations from the sea. Sailing between hidden coves, exploring small islands or taking a break to swim in crystal-clear waters has become one of the highlights of a holiday.
Whether on board a catamaran, motorboat or sailing yacht, sea-based experiences continue to gain popularity. In fact, according to a study carried out by TUI Musement, more than 88% of travellers say they are interested or very interested in booking boat excursions during their coastal holidays.
Half-day experiences are the most popular, particularly those combining scenic discovery, swimming stops and the opportunity to visit several islands in a single excursion*.
With a score of 8.89 out of 10, Thailand’s largest island tops the ranking. On board a catamaran, travellers can discover the stunning Phi Phi Islands, including the iconic Maya Bay -made famous by the film The Beach- as well as Bamboo Island, known for its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. These excursions combine sailing through spectacular scenery with stops for swimming and snorkelling in emerald lagoons, one of the aspects most valued by travellers. Second place goes to another Thai destination, reaffirming the country’s strong appeal for this type of experience. Khao Lak is the ideal starting point for exploring Phang Nga Bay, sailing among limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons and floating villages. Many tours also include a visit to James Bond Island, as well as the chance to explore Phung Chang Cave by canoe, bamboo raft or on foot, adding a more active and varied dimension to the experience. The Algarve coastline stands out for its golden cliffs, sea caves and small coves hidden among rock formations. Located between Crete and Rhodes, Karpathos is one of the most authentic islands in the Aegean Sea.
