TUI launches groundbreaking Cabin Crew apprenticeship trial for 2026

TUI UK&I

Today TUI has announced the launch of its pioneering Cabin Crew Apprenticeship, set to begin in March 2026, marking a significant milestone in aviation training and youth employment. Working with the government, TUI has helped reshape the traditional 12-month apprenticeship model. The Government’s decision to reduce the minimum duration of an apprenticeship in February has paved the way for a trailblazing cabin crew programme - the first of its kind among major UK-based airlines.

Marsha Myles, Emerging Talent and Apprenticeship Manager at TUI UK&I, said: “Securing a shorter, apprenticeship is a game-changer - not just for TUI, but for the future of aviation. This breakthrough means we can offer young people, a faster, more accessible route into a career that’s exciting, global, and full of opportunity. It’s about opening doors, building confidence, and creating real pathways into the skies.”

This Level 3 apprenticeship, equivalent to two A Levels, is designed to open up more opportunities to people from all backgrounds, aligning with TUI’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The programme will welcome up to 16 external candidates, aged 18 and over, who meet standard cabin crew qualifications and pass all required checks. TUI’s ambition is to grow the programme in future years in line with the needs of the business. Apprentices will begin with induction and cabin crew training, followed by active flying duties from May through October, with time dedicated to formal training.

Aviation Minister, Keir Mather, said: “This first-of-its-kind aviation apprenticeship scheme marks a major step forward in building a highly skilled, future-ready workforce.

“Thanks to our new regulations reducing the minimum training period, we’re unlocking faster, more flexible routes into aviation, backing an expanding sector without compromising on quality, and offering young people better opportunities to help deliver our Plan for Change.”

While post-apprenticeship contracts are not guaranteed, graduates will be eligible to apply for cabin crew roles through TUI’s standard recruitment process, equipped with enhanced skills and career prospects.

This initiative reinforces TUI’s leadership in responsible employment and its dedication to creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation of aviation professionals.
