RIU Hotels & Resorts published its 2022 Annual Report to share its sustainability and social investment results, as well as the major indicators for 2022. Stakeholders and the media were given a sneak peek in Palma de Mallorca with Carmen Riu, CEO of RIU, Catalina Alemany, CSR director, and Lola Trian, Sustainability director.

The company’s corporate culture is now guided by the concept of common sense sustainability, striving for ambitious yet realistic goals, involving the entire company in decision-making and projects, especially hotels, which are ultimately responsible for the application of many of the policies. The Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is focused on consolidating partnerships with organisations in the various destinations where the company operates to strengthen its relationships and have a more positive impact on the local community and surrounding area.

In 2022, the hotel chain invested a total of 2,264,689 euros in 71 projects carried out alongside 64 strategic partners. Children’s causes continue to be RIU’s line of philanthropy (54% of social investment), with health, social development and education projects. These projects directly benefited 42,636 children and indirectly helped 94,093 people.

In 2023, RIU remains committed and is working hard to make further advancements on its CSR strategy, maintaining and consolidating partnerships both for social investment and biodiversity protection.
