TUI Airline today unveiled its Summer 2027 flying programme, marking the first schedule developed under the airline's new commercial framework and a significant milestone in the airline's evolution.
For the first time, TUI Airline has planned its summer programme through a single commercial framework that brings together demand from TUI tour operators, external partners and seat-only customers across its European network. The approach enables the airline to identify opportunities across markets, deploy aircraft more efficiently and maximise value from its fleet while retaining the flexibility to respond to changing customer demand, while keeping support for TUI's tour operator business at its core.
As one of Europe's leading leisure airlines and a key pillar of TUI's integrated business model, TUI Airline plays a central role in connecting customers with holiday experiences across the globe. The new framework reflects the airline's increasing ability to leverage its scale, pan-European footprint and network expertise to identify growth opportunities while supporting the ambitions of TUI's tour operators and distribution partners.
Summer 2027 marks TUI Airline's largest airline-led programme to date, with 17 million seats and 84,000 flights, representing 4.6% growth versus Summer 2026. Improved fleet utilisation will enable the airline to serve more customers while making better use of existing resources.
Following a full network review, around one-third of routes have been optimised through capacity, frequency or deployment changes, directing flying towards the markets and destinations with the strongest long-term growth potential.
The programme includes 25 new routes across the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, including 11 destinations new to the TUI Airline network. These services add around 640,000 seats during the summer season and strengthen the airline's presence across key leisure markets in Europe and Africa.
The new routes open up previously unserved destinations across Spain, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Tanzania, Cape Verde and Morocco. Most services will operate two to three times per week and are designed primarily to serve the flight-only market, while retaining flexibility to support holiday packaging demand where required.
“Summer 2027 marks the beginning of a new chapter for TUI Airline. For the first time, we have planned our programme through a single commercial framework, bringing together demand from our tour operators, distribution partners and seat-only customers. This has enabled us to create a stronger, more efficient network. It is proof of what we can achieve when we plan as one airline, using our scale and pan-European footprint to deploy capacity smarter, unlock new growth opportunities and strengthen our position in every market, while keeping our tour operator business firmly at the core of our strategy,” said Peter Glade, Chief Commercial Officer, TUI Airline
Summer 2027 reflects TUI Airline's strategy of growing where demand is strongest while continuously improving network efficiency and fleet productivity. Aircraft previously deployed in lower-demand markets are being redirected towards destinations with stronger growth prospects and more attractive customer demand. The programme also continues the drive towards a simpler and more efficient operation through the reduction of indirect flying patterns wherever practical.
The result is a network that combines growth, efficiency and flexibility while supporting both package holiday demand, which remains central to our strategy, and seat-only demand.
Germany will benefit from a combination of network expansion, targeted capacity growth and new long-haul opportunities. A key highlight is the introduction of a new twice-weekly Boeing 787 service between Düsseldorf and Curaçao. The direct connection will provide customers in Germany with convenient access to one of the Caribbean's most popular leisure destinations while supporting demand from both package holiday and seat-only customers. The Curaçao route is one of two new long-haul services being introduced as part of the Summer 2027 programme and demonstrates the airline's ability to utilise its pan-European operating model and fleet flexibility to unlock growth opportunities across markets.
The programme also introduces six new short and medium-haul routes from Düsseldorf and Hanover, including services to Málaga (DUS & HAJ), Ljubljana (DUS), Naples (DUS), Olbia (HAJ) and Venice (DUS). Venice and Ljubljana are among the 11 unique new destinations being added across the TUI Airline network for Summer 2027 and further broaden the range of destinations available to German customers.
Alongside the network expansion, capacity is increasing on a number of high-demand destinations compared with Summer 2026. Significant growth is planned for Agadir, Boa Vista, Sal, Djerba, Funchal, Kos, Patras (Araxos), Larnaca and Tenerife South, reflecting strong customer demand and the airline's strategy of further strengthening its presence in established leisure markets.
London Gatwick will be the largest growth base within the Summer 2027 programme, gaining eight additional routes and increasing TUI's destination portfolio from the airport to 59 destinations, making it the largest expansion within the airline's Summer 2027 programme. The growth is supported by additional flying capacity and reinforces TUI Airline's commitment to strengthening its presence in one of Europe's largest leisure aviation markets. The enhanced route portfolio is expected to support growth in both package holiday and seat-only demand while increasing customer choice at a time when competitive capacity across the UK market continues to rise.
New routes from Gatwick include Athens, Palermo, Santiago de Compostela, Seville, Valencia, Tangier, Djerba and Mytilene, providing customers with an even broader range of holiday options.
“Gatwick has played a central role in the development of TUI's airline business in the UK for more than six decades. For generations of customers across London, the South and Southwest of England, it has been the gateway to their holidays. Expanding our portfolio to 59 destinations is a natural next step as we continue to invest in one of the most important markets. The additional flying creates more opportunities for customers, supports continued growth in both package holiday and flight-only demand, and reinforces our long-term commitment to Gatwick”, Peter Glade added.
The Summer 2027 programme also marks an important milestone for TUI Airline's fleet strategy. Subject to certification, the Boeing 737-10 is expected to enter service during the second quarter of 2027, with Amsterdam becoming the launch base for the new aircraft type. The Dutch operation will transition from six Boeing 737-8 aircraft to seven larger Boeing 737-10s, combining fleet growth with a significant increase in capacity. With around 15 per cent more seats per aircraft, the 737-10 will help meet strong customer demand in the Netherlands, support the expansion of direct services to popular leisure destinations and provide additional flexibility to deploy capacity where it creates the greatest value across TUI Airline's network.
“Amsterdam will be the first home of our Boeing 737-10 and a key driver of our growth ambitions for Summer 2027. The additional capacity allows us to offer more direct flights, more choice and an even better travel experience, while giving us greater flexibility to develop our network and capture growing demand”, said Peter Glade.
Amsterdam will also gain a new twice-weekly connection to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The Boeing 787 service will operate as part of a combined routing with Zanzibar.
The Summer 2027 programme highlights the benefits of TUI Airline's integrated network strategy for the Belgian market. Better planning, greater flexibility and a more coordinated approach to capacity deployment enable the airline to increase volume from Belgium and respond more effectively to changing customer demand.
As a result, customers will benefit from additional services to established holiday destinations such as Lanzarote and Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands; Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands; Alicante and Reus in Spain; Crete, Kos and Rhodes in Greece; Madeira in Portugal; and Marrakech and Agadir in Morocco, alongside new route opportunities including Billund in Denmark, Ljubljana in Slovenia, and Essaouira and Fez in Morocco.
The increased and shifted programme underlines the importance of Belgium within TUI Airline's European network and supports the airline's ambition to grow sustainably while providing more choice and flexibility for travellers.
The Summer 2027 programme demonstrates how TUI Airline is evolving from operating the flying programme to actively helping shape it. By combining airline capacity, holiday demand and multiple distribution channels within one commercial framework, TUI Airline can unlock growth opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on customer needs.
This transformation extends beyond Summer 2027. By strengthening its planning, pricing and commercial capabilities, TUI Airline is creating a more agile business that can respond faster to market opportunities and deploy aircraft more effectively.
By concentrating capacity on its strongest-performing routes and destinations, the airline is improving efficiency, enhancing the customer experience and creating greater flexibility to support both package holiday and seat-only demand.
Summer 2027 is the first visible expression of this strategy in action: one integrated network delivering more choice for customers and sustainable growth across the TUI Group.
