What do you enjoy most in your job with TUI in Morocco?
Joining TUI has given me the opportunity to meet many people from all over the world. Serving them from the heart and at the same time I learn many things about their culture.
What is special about your destination Marrakech?
The warm climate is what characterizes Marrakech compared to other cities in Morocco. Marrakech is the main destination for travelers coming to Morocco thanks to its geographical location. It lies close to the foothills of the snowed capped high Atlas Mountains and only a few hours away from the big Sahara of Merzouga and the coast.
Which cultural spot would you recommend in Marrakech?
Marrakech is home of many historical sites including the famous Koutobia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian tombs, the Ben Youssef Madrasa and the main square Jamaa el Fna which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. You can discover different vibes of Moroccan culture on the square, such as entertainers, musicians, comedians, acrobats and snake charmers. And it is the best place to enjoy a fresh orange juice.
What local food should visitors try in Marrakech?
Tajine is the most popular traditional food in Morocco. It is mostly prepared with different kinds of vegetables. You cannot imagine a Moroccan family without an earthenware pot. The Jamaa el Fna square is the best place to experience this delicious dish.
What is the best experience in your region that no visitor should miss?
The picturesque landscape around Marrakech is a must. I recommend our TUI Collection Excursion “Berber trails 4x4“ This allows you to delve in the authentic and rural side of Marrakech as well as getting an insight of the simple way of life of the Berbers, the natives of Morocco. On a 4x4 you will visit some Berber villages, gaze at the panoramic views, and enjoy a cup of mint tea with a Berber family. The journey ends in Imlil, the highest valley in Morocco, where lunch is served in a scenic terrace.
…that the University of Al-Karaouine is the oldest existing, and continually operating educational institution in the world? It was founded in 859 AD in Fez, Morocco.
