The diversity of entertainment

2,400 entertainers from around the globe accompany TUI’s guests

Almost 2,400 entertainers continue to create a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere and offer sports or creative activities for TUI holidaymakers this autumn. TUI MAGIC LIFE employs around 390 entertainers, while another 250 work for ROBINSON clubs. About 1,730 entertainers in 300 hotels around the world work for the international hotel concepts TUI SENSIMAR, TUI FAMILY LIFE and TUI SENSATORI as well as the local concepts such as best FAMILY or BLUE STAR.

TUI’s entertainers are from many different countries and contribute the most diverse cultures to the entertainment programmes. “Our entertainers come from many countries including Brazil, South Africa, Sint Maarten, UK, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania,” says Eva-Kristin Othmer, Manager Entertainment Staff Placement at TUI MAGIC LIFE. “We are proud to have more than 33 different nationalities in our entertainment team.” Entertainers work in places where others are on holiday. Their main task is to entertain the guests in a club hotel, resort or holiday complex. To that end, they develop a varied sports and entertainment programme catering to all ages. “Our employees in the clubs are communicators and hosts,” says Bärbel Schreck, Head or HR for Robinson Clubs. “They are also experts in their respective area, from stage technology all the way to dance or a wide range of ball sports.”

Entertainers are contracted for the period from mid-March to mid-November. The minimum age is 18, and applicants have to be available for a minimum period of four months. “However, a longer assignment is better”, emphasises Marion Glasmeyer, Senior Manager Concept Training & Governance for TUI’s concept hotel brands. The key prerequisites for the work of an entertainer include communication skills, teamwork, presence and independence. The next season is always in the waiting. The search for next year’s entertainers starts even before this year’s peak holiday season will have drawn to a close. Experience Days will be held to offer prospective applicants an opportunity to present themselves. The selected candidates will subsequently take place in workshops and on-the-job trainings to prepare for their assignments.

Applicants can choose from a portfolio covering a wide range of different jobs: the search is on for acrobats, singers and dancers, children’s reps and sports all-rounders as skills as specialists, e.g. mountain biking and tennis experts. “Of course, professional competences are of fundamental importance. Nevertheless, the focus is always on our guests,” says Eva-Kristin Othmer. And Marion Glasmeyer highlights: “Being a people person is super important.”
