Hiking tours in Madeira, a day trip to the Mayan ruins in the remote town of Muyil in the jungle of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, or a guided discovery tour to Cairo, Africa’s largest city: holidaymakers travelling with TUI can choose from more than 150,000 excursions and activities worldwide. The portfolio offered by the World’s leading destination experiences company, TUI Destination Experiences, ranges from wellness offers and adventure experiences via tickets for sporting events and museum visits all the way to guided city tours and individual sightseeing tours. These excursions and activities are already booked by 4.5 million TUI customers a year – and the trend is rising!
Of course, TUI has always offered its customers the opportunity to book excursions, hiking tours, wine tasting sessions or visits in their holiday destinations. However, digitalisation is opening up new opportunities. Customers now find it much easier to choose from the offering – even before they travel, either in their travel agency or from their own computer at home. Through the www.musement.com platform, holidaymakers can combine their favourite tours and activities from the entire portfolio at a few clicks. The platform is open for all of the around 350,000 international providers of excursions and events – including tickets from museum admission tickets all the way to Segway tours. The platform currently offers products for 1,900 cities in 80 countries. The portfolio of excursions and activities will continue to be further expanded in future.
The excursion business was boosted through the integration of the Milan-based Musement start up for tours and activities into TUI in 2018. “The Musement solution enables our colleagues in the travel agencies to easily and transparently choose the right product for their customers from the 150,000 offerings,” said Inke Rasmussen, Director Ancillaries at TUI Germany. However, travellers preferring to book their excursions and activities spontaneously on the ground in the holiday destination will, of course, continue to be able to do so through their TUI rep or the “My TUI” app.
Responsible for the activities and excursion programme is TUI Destination Experiences, headquartered in Palma de Mallorca. The current portfolio of 150,000 excursions and activities includes more than 40,000 curated products, i.e. products put through their paces in terms of quality and rated as particularly recommendable by TUI. In addition, TUI Collection, launched in 2014, provides exclusive excursions specifically tailored to offer the participants authentic experiences of the country they visit. Every excursion offered in the framework of TUI Collection meets specific sustainability criteria, e.g. by creating benefits for local communities and minimising its impact on the environment. Hundreds of thousands of guests have already participated in a TUI Collection excursion.
