TUI Group CEO Fritz Joussen met Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in Vienna for talks. The meeting with the Chancellor of Austria focused on the development of global tourism, Austria’s positioning as a tourism country as well as Brexit. Joussen emphasised the importance of tourism for the holiday destinations in the southern EU member states and the benefits of an open skies agreement for the aviation sector across Europe. After the meeting with Chancellor Kurz, Fritz Joussen and Thomas Ellerbeck, Member of the Group Executive Committee, met Austria’s Minister for Sustainability and Tourism, Minister for Digitalisation and Economic Affairs and Minister for Transport.
Austria is an important destination for TUI. We operate a total of five hotels – primarily in the high-quality segment – with a total of 701 rooms and 1,578 beds. With TUI BLUE Pulse Montafon and TUI BLUE Fieberbrunn, our pipeline includes two additional hotels currently being built. Last year, 281,000 customers travelled to Austria with TUI.
However, Austria is also an important source market. TUI is market leader in the country: Around 1,000 employees provide holiday trips to over 100 destinations for our 460,000 customers.
