On 24 June, more than 30 high flyers from the world of fine dining gathered on the Lido Deck aboard EUROPA for EUROPA’s Best festival off Antwerp. They wowed the guests with their special culinary creations. Thirteen European top chefs, wine makers, chocolatiers, patissiers and cheese-makers turned this event into a genuine gourmet extravaganza. They included German TV presenter Günter Jauch, who presented wines from his own vineyard, Weingut von Othegraven. Tillman Fischer, MS EUROPA chef, and Corporate Chef Michael Hoffmann welcomed the gourmet elite on board Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’s luxury cruise ship.
For the seventh time, EUROPA moored off Antwerp for a culinary evening event constituting a highlight for the passengers and the gourmet elite. The guests strolled past the live cooking stations and enjoyed tasting a wide variety of culinary creations.
Apart from the culinary highlights, the evening programme also included a charity campaign: All 13 top chefs signed a cooking apron, which was subsequently raffled for the benefit of TUI Care Foundation. Günter Jauch was the prominent ‘good luck fairy’. The raffle raised a total of 5,000 euros, to be used to support a project run by Plan International in the Philippines to promote sustainable agriculture, empowering children and their families to secure their livelihood.
In 2019, EUROPA’s Best will form part of a short cruise from 2 to 4 August 2019, departing from Hamburg and taking the passengers to Helgoland and back to Hamburg. For the second time since its debut in 2017, the gourmet festival will take place against the backdrop of the skyline and port of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg.
