On Tuesday 26th of June, TUI invited officials from the European institutions, EU Member states and industry players to its new Group Corporate Office in Brussels for a policy breakfast on digitalization. The event was titled “Tourism of the Future: how the digital revolution is shaping tomorrow’s trends today”.
Dr. Ralf Pastleitner, Director of International Public Policy and EU Affairs, Head of the EU Corporate Office, opened the event by providing all participants with an introduction to TUI Group and setting the stage for the keynote and the discussion.
As the keynote speaker of the event, Elke Reichart, TUI Group’s Chief Digital Officer, provided the attendees with insights into TUI’s current digital initiatives and discussed how the Group's aspirations for the future will benefit the customers, the environment and the tourism businesses globally.
The attendees, ranging from representatives from the European Institutions and Tourism professionals to digital and IT frontrunners, engaged in vibrant discussions. Topics included how digital progress can empower local economies, and combat peak-tourism, and how digital developments contribute to improved sustainable operations across the customer journey. Afterwards, all participants were given the opportunity to engage and network about digital advancements and collaboratively exchange viewpoints on the future milestones of our industry.
In addition to being a great success, this event follows the digital footpath and contributes to establishing TUI Group as a digital player in political dialogues and displays the group’s growing influence in the European political community. More future events are planned at the TUI Group Corporate Office EU in Brussels to increase the Group’s presence on EU political level and facilitate our exchange with decision makers and influencers.
