At the beginning of March the ITB took place in Berlin. The world’s leading travel trade show welcomed again over 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries. The core topics of this year’s ITB were digitalisation, innovation and sustainability. These subject areas are also key to TUI Group’s future growth and commitment.
Sustainability is a topic that has always played a key role for TUI Group. At the ITB, the world’s number one tourism group has published a sustainability study. More than 3,000 customers were surveyed about their wishes and expectations regarding sustainable holidays. Moreover, TUI Group has pooled its sustainable tourism commitment in the newly set up TUI Care Foundation, supporting 30 projects worldwide in the fields of education, the environment and sustainable development of holiday destinations. The Foundation’s current position and its activities to promote sustainable tourism in more than 25 countries around the globe this year were presented at ITB 2017 for the first time. Sustainable tourism also played a key role in the talks between management and numerous tourism minsters and representatives from the destinations at the ITB. The talks also focused on future partnership and cooperation.
