Fritz Joussen expresses his sympathy following the attacks in Nice

Yesterday evening, France became the target of yet another murderous attack. Once again, the French nation has been struck by terror claiming the lives of people who had peacefully gathered in celebration of their national holiday.

We are deeply shocked by the pictures emerging from Nice and are united in our solidarity and commiseration with the victims. In these hours, our thoughts are with our French guests, our French colleagues and the entire French nation.

I would thus like to express, also on behalf of my colleagues, our deepest condolences.

The French national holiday stands for values that unite our free societies. The day that proudly celebrates these values has now been turned into a day of mourning.  Hate and fear cannot be our answer to terror. Instead we have to been determined to stand in for the values of freedom, tolerance and open societies.
