TUI Group consistently continues its new strategic path: The transformation to a hotel and cruise group initiated by CEO Fritz Joussen at the end of 2014 reached a further milestone this week. Meyer Turku Werft handed over Mein Schiff 5 to TUI Cruises ten days ahead of schedule. Wybcke Meier, CEO TUI Cruises, received the official documents for the ship from Dr Jan Meyer, Managing Director Meyer Turku Oy. The handover of the new cruise ship with a capacity for 2,534 passengers was subsequently celebrated on board with invited guests at an official ceremony. Mein Schiff 5 was built within only 18 months. Following the ship naming ceremony on 15 July 2016, she will officially be commissioned. With TUI Cruises, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and Thomson Cruises, TUI Group’s cruise operations comprise three companies and a fleet of 14 ships.
