TUI Group’s premium club brand expands in Africa: ROBINSON Club makes its debut in Cape Verde

Creole culture and modern club holidays now meet in the Cape Verde Islands. Last Saturday saw the opening of ROBINSON Club Cabo Verde in the island of Sal close to Santa Maria. The new club marks leading tourism company TUI Group’s continued expansion of its portfolio in the trending destination, offering premium club holidays for guests aged 18+ in the western African archipelago in future.

The new ROBINSON club celebrated its opening on 14 December 2019 under the motto “ROBINSON Spirit meets African Soul“. The highlights of the event included colourful costumes, illuminated sand sculptures, percussion artists, an Afro pop dance performance as well as live music with a DJ. Apart from ROBINSON Managing Director Bernd Mäser, high-ranking political representatives of Cape Verde, including Prime Minster Dr Ulisses Correia e Silva and Mayor Dr Julio Lopes, took part in the event. “With the new ROBINSON Club Cabo Verde, we are delighted to welcome a club whose hallmarks include a stylish design and above all excellent climate conditions. ROBINSON guests will be able to spend a holiday in the sun all year round,” said Bernd Mäser, Managing Director of Robinson Club GmbH.

From now, the new adults-only cub featuring 307 rooms, including 16 suites, will primarily attract couples and solo travellers enjoying water sports or recreational activities. The double rooms with a size of nearly 25 square metres feature a modern and bright design. The suites, comprising two rooms and two bathrooms on 87 square metres, offer a lateral sea view. The sandy beach, eight kilometres long and a 200 metres wide, offers the guests the opportunity to engage in a wide range of water sports including kiting, wind surfing, sailing or stand-up paddling. Holidaymakers preferring to work out on the shore can play football or beach volleyball enjoying a view a sea. The attractive offering is rounded off by a gym featuring a group fitness area, a Body & Mind room for yoga & Pilates, indoor cycling and power plate. After a comprehensive workout, the guests can enjoy the WellFit spa area with rooftop sauna, Finnish sauna, bio sauna as well as rooms for massages and cosmetic treatments offering tranquility and recreation. The club offers its guests the well-known all-inclusive made by ROBINSON concept. A main restaurant, two speciality restaurants and three different bars ensure culinary diversity.

TUI discovered the potential of Cape Verde early on and substantially contributed to the development of tourism on the island state. With the opening of ROBINSON Club Cabo Verde, the hotel group’s footprint now includes seven own hotels in Cape Verde. Tourism has meanwhile become the most important industry in the country located 450 kilometres off the West African coast. In addition, TUI Care Foundation runs projects in the country. In cooperation with local initiatives, the non-profit foundation protects the breeding grounds of sea turtles on the beaches and engages local communities and partners in the protection of the turtles.
