RIU has reached two million followers on Facebook

  • The hotel chain has received more than two million likes on the social network, and it is celebrating by giving away a round-the-world trip 
  • RIU is also on other networks including Instagram, where it has 200 thousand followers, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and WeChat

RIU Hotels & Resorts is celebrating reaching two million followers on its official Facebook page, 10 years after creating the profile in the community in 2009. Since then, the hotel company’s presence on the popular social network has grown exponentially.

RIU is delighted to share this news, because it is a reward for the daily work that goes into maintaining direct communication with its most loyal followers and customers. RIU Hotels & Resorts uses the platform to let followers know about its news and offers, as well as to share exclusive content and information about its hotels.

To celebrate these 2,000,000 fans on Facebook, the company is launching a competition to reward its loyal followers with a round-the-world trip, made up of five stops of five days each. It includes stays in some of its hotels in the four continents where RIU is present, specifically, New YorkCancún, the Canary Islands, Zanzibar and the Maldives. To take part, click here.

The hotel chain also has direct contact with its customers and followers through other social networks, such as Instagram (@RiuHotels, where it has 200,000 followers); Twitter (@RiuHoteles, with more than 175,000 followers, @RiuPlazaHotels, RIU’s urban hotel line with nearly 3,000 followers and @RIUHotels_DE, the German version with more than 1,300 followers); a Youtube channel with more than 10,000 subscribers; Pinterest, with nearly 15,500 followers, and its own blog, where readers can find information about all the hotels’ news as well as practical advice about the destinations where it operates, and which, since last January, has included personal posts by the chain’s CEO Luis Riu. It also has profiles on the main Chinese social platforms, WeChat and Weibo.
