RIU presents the renovated ClubHotel Riu Chiclana

  • Thanks to an extensive renovation, in which RIU has invested €25 million, the popular hotel now offers 24-hour all-inclusive service, free WiFi throughout the hotel, a new Italian restaurant and a new children's area.
  • All the public areas, bars, restaurants, gardens, swimming pools, guest rooms and bathrooms have been renovated and boast new décor and furniture.

The ClubHotel Riu Chiclana has just reopened following a complete renovation and is ready to offer a new, more modern and all-encompassing experience to its loyal customers. Since its opening in 2001, the hotel has earned its place as a favourite for family holidays among the chain's customers in Spain. A position it hopes to maintain thanks to this major renovation, which has added new amenities, such as free WiFi throughout the hotel, extension of its all-inclusive service to 24 hours, and a fresher, lighter style that has been introduced to blend in with the personality of the Andalusian town and its buildings and streets. The total investment in the project was €25 million.

The 832 rooms of the hotel have been fully refurbished with new furniture and décor in refreshing shades of yellow and blue that allude to the sea and sun of the summer months. The bathrooms are brand new, and in all of them the bathtub has been replaced by a shower, in line with the design trend of eliminating barriers and also saving water.

The main building is the most modern part of the hotel. The lobby opts for straight and simple lines, large windows that add a great deal of natural light, and for modern and practical furniture. All the restaurants are now in the main building, including the new Italian restaurant 'La Dolce Vita', in addition to the main restaurant 'Botánico', which now has a large terrace for enjoying al fresco breakfasts and dinners, the Andalusian restaurant 'Noray" and the grill 'La Gaditana'. 'Kiosko Pepito', the snack bar with service between 13:00 and 15:00, for its part, represents a new option for lunch in the pool area.

And, the renovated ClubHotel Riu Chiclana has five bars, including 'Lounge 24', a new space with 24-hour service. Guests can also enjoy their favourite drinks at 'Bulería', the poolside bar 'Calima', La Plaza and the swim-up bar 'Liquid Bar'.

But the most spectacular transformation has taken place in the pool and garden area, which has been completely redesigned to now offer five swimming pools with a new rectangular design, two of which are heated for use in the winter. Guests will continue to enjoy the hotel's privileged location, with direct access to the La Barrosa beach from the garden itself.

The area for children's activities has also undergone important changes. The RiuLand kids' club will now offer an outdoor play area as well as a covered one that will delight youngsters with its slides, mazes and a ball pool. The baby pool and the children's pool, with its games and pirate ship, will be complemented by a new 'Splash Park', a fun area with water attractions. In addition to all of these spaces for the youngest guests, the hotel will also have the RIU4U club for teens, the RiuArt centre for artistic activities, the RiuFit centre for sports and a new gym. The hotel also offers a spa area, athletic courts and parking, an amenity that is very important for the Spanish customers of this hotel.

This renovation project is part of RIU's strategic plan to reposition its entire hotel offer, with special emphasis on its hotels in Spain. With this project, all the hotels in Andalusia have now been completely renovated. The Riu Nautilus in Torremolinos was the first, in 2013, followed by the Riu Monica in Nerja, in 2016; the Riu Belplaya and the Riu Costa Lago were combined in the ClubHotel Riu Costa del Sol, which opened in Torremolinos in 2017; and the ClubHotel Riu Chiclana now joins the modern and updated RIU offer on the Andalusian coast.
