Dr Dieter Zetsche to succeed Professor Klaus Mangold as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TUI AG in 2018

Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Executive Board of Daimler AG, is to become the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the world's leading tourism group TUI as of 1 October 2018.

The Supervisory Board of TUI AG today decided to approve the nomination of Dr Dieter Zetsche as a new member of the Supervisory Board to the TUI Annual General Meeting on 13 February 2018. The previous Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Professor Dr Klaus Mangold intends to end his term of office as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the end of the 2018 financial year. On 1 October 2018, it is planned for Dr Zetsche to succeed Professor Dr Klaus Mangold as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Professor Dr Mangold has been a member of the TUI Supervisory Board since 2009 and its Chairman since 2011. He was most recently elected at the 2016 Annual General Meeting for a five-year term.

"With Dr Zetsche, we are gaining the services of a highly-regarded top manager for the Supervisory Board and as my successor as its Chairman. He embodies internationality and a strong feeling for the management of outstanding brands. The Supervisory and Executive Boards can benefit from his extensive experience in an international corporate environment. For me personally it was important to arrange my succession as early as possible and to professionally ensure the transition. TUI is well-positioned. The company is economically healthy and is today the leading tourism group worldwide. The integration of the former British tourism subsidiary has been completed. Therefore, autumn 2018 is the right time for the change at the top of the Supervisory Board", explained Professor Dr Klaus Mangold.

Dr Dieter Zetsche was born in 1953 in Istanbul. He studied electrical engineering, graduating at the University of Karlsruhe and was later awarded his doctorate at the University of Paderborn. In 1976, Dr Zetsche joined the research department of the former Daimler-Benz AG. Since December 1998, Dr Zetsche has been a member of the Group Executive Board and, since 1 January, 2006, Chairman of the Executive Board of Daimler AG. He is also heading the Mercedes-Benz Cars business unit.
