TUI Destination Experiences – the world's leading provider of destination experiences.

In addition to the hotel and cruise business, TUI Destination Experiences is one of TUI Group's three growth areas. The world's leading provider of destination experiences employs 9,000 people in 49 countries and generates turnover of 700 million euros. Last year, the company looked after 14 million guests, carried out over 25 million transfers and sold more than six million tours and activities.

The market for tours and activities

The market for tours and activities is the third largest segment in tourism after the flight and hotel business. In 2018, sales in this market segment amounted to more than 150 billion euros and with annual growth rates of seven percent, the tours and activities business is growing faster than tourism as a whole. 

Compared to the hotel and flight business, the market for tours and activities is still relatively non digital. There are few pure online providers and therefore not many opportunities for guests to book online.

The supply side of the tours and activities market is extremely fragmented. Of the 350,000 or so providers, more than 90 percent are small businesses with annual sales of less than one million euros. So far, they have done business almost exclusively with casual customers, i.e. holidaymakers who ‘stumble’ across their shop or stand in the destination.

Our brands

There are three other brands under the umbrella of TUI Destination Experiences: Intercruises, Pacific World and Musement. 

  • Intercruises looks after cruises for all the world's major cruise companies in around 60 countries. With a market share of 14 percent, the company is one of the leading providers in its segment
  • Pacific World is active in the conference and events business. The company offers its services in 30 countries worldwide – preferably in Asia – and accompanied over 1 million events last year.
  • Five years after its foundation, Musement is one of the leading online providers in the tours and activities market. The Italian start-up offers travellers activities and excursions in 1,900 cities in 80 countries worldwide via its platform.

Our global positioning – a strategic advantage

What makes us unique in this market is our strategic positioning: We are the only supplier to cover all four components in the tours and activities market. While the online providers concentrate on the production, sourcing and distribution of offers, i.e. those fields that can be digitized, our 9,000 employees in 49 countries help us to make sure that we deliver our own products with high quality. We are expanding our own portfolio with products from other providers so that we can offer guests the entire spectrum, for example on city breaks.

Our products – for every occasion, the right experience

As the only provider in the market, we offer our guests all services and experiences in the destination from a single source. In addition to excursions, activities and round trips, these also include guest care and transfers as well as cruise handling.

In the tours and activities growth area, we offer our guests a total of 150,000 products, of which 50,000 are curated, i.e. we put them through their paces in terms of quality. The portfolio ranges from wellness offers and adventure experiences to tickets for sporting events and museum visits, guided city tours and individual sightseeing tours.

We want to impress our guests not only by the variety of individual products, but also in the way they can get in touch with us. Our aim is to give our customers the choice of which channel best suits their individual needs – be it a call to the TUI Contact Centre, personal advice from the travel agency and the TUI Rep on site, or digitally via our website and app. You can reach us from anywhere, at any time of day or night.   

By collecting the data at each point of contact, we are able to get to know our guests better and better and therefore offer them more individual offers tailored to their preferences and wishes. 

We feel responsible

As partners of the destinations, we are committed to the protection of nature and the local wildlife and respect the local culture of the countries. This is why we offer our guests excursions under the TUI Collection brand, which satisfy both sustainable aspects and provide authentic experiences for the guest. 

Our employees are also committed to environmental protection in a variety of ways. In 2018 alone, 2,000 colleagues in 21 countries cleaned over 90 kilometres of beaches removing 8,500 kilograms of rubbish.
