TUI AG Privacy Statement

TUI AG takes protecting your privacy and your personal data very seriously. We attach great importance to this in implementing our app. Our data privacy practice therefore complies with all current provisions on data protection and other legal requirements.

To protect your data as effectively as possible from unintended or deliberate manipulation, loss, destruction and third-party access, we apply technical and organisational security measures, which we continually optimise to keep pace with technical and statutory developments.

Here we will explain what personal data we collect from you and how we use it. We will also tell you how we protect your data, with whom we share it, and how you can make changes to your data.

What is personal data?
Personal data is information that can be used to identify you. This includes information such as your name, IP address, phone number or email address. Information that cannot be directly associated with your identity (e.g. favourite websites or the number of uses on a page) is not included.

What is anonymised data?
Every time contents on our app are accessed, certain data of a general nature is automatically collected (e.g. the number of visitors to specific pages and how long they stay). This data does not identify you personally and so it is processed in an anonymous form. Information of this kind is used for purely statistical purposes to help us optimise our online services.

What data do we collect from you?
We collect personal data from you in order to run the app chosen by you. Your user name, password and organisation are stored in the app in encrypted form for automatic login. Only your name and email address are stored by us. Providing information such as your phone number, location and profile image is voluntary. This typically occurs in conjunction with filling in forms, participating in competitions, subscribing to newsletters or sending emails.

How do we use and process your personal data?
When we do collect your personal data while you are using our app, we use it to underpin the content of a contractual relationship with regard to telemedia services and also to improve the quality of our app. If you participate in team challenges or prize draws, we use your data in order to process these. If you use the App Check, a feedback tool embedded within the app, your data is anonymised before being analysed.

With whom do we share your personal data?
When you take part in a team challenge, your data is shared with the other participants, and if you participate in a prize draw, we provide your data to the partner organisation insofar as this is required for claiming your prize.

In all other cases we only share anonymised data, which does not allow you to be personally identified.

We only collect and share data with public bodies and agencies in the context of legally binding requirements.

We categorically do not sell your personal data, in particular your address, to third parties.

How do we protect your data?
In order to process your personal data as safely as possible, particularly when you are using our online services for the transmission of data between your smart device and our server, we always use the security software SSL (Secure Socket Layer). In practice this means that data transmission is always encrypted.

Any storage of your personal data is always compliant with the legal provisions in Germany and where appropriate other countries within the European Economic Area.

Whenever we share data with our own service providers within the context of the services described here, these providers are also bound by the legal requirements and by their contractual arrangements with us.

Requesting your personal information / Your rights
You have the right to request free of charge information about any of your personal data stored by us. You also have the right to correct, delete or block incorrect data. In some circumstances legal requirements may prevent deletion, in which case a block is used instead.

Data collecting entity / Data protection officer
TUI AG is the data collecting and processing entity as well as the service provider. You will find further details and contacts in the section entitled “Imprint”.

If you have any questions, requests or comments with regard to data protection, you can contact TUI AG’s data protection officer by email at datenschutz@tui.com or datenschutz@tui.de.

The rapid development of our app means that from time to time we may need to adjust our privacy policy. You will always be informed here of any such changes.

Use of cookies
As you use our app, information is stored within the app software on your smart device in the form of cookies. These contain information about how you use the app. Cookies make it easier for you to use app functions, because next time you visit we can recognise your smart device, and this facilitates repeat entries of your data.

We use our cookies (small files containing configuration data) to help us monitor the frequency of visits and number of users of our app and to enable you to use the full range of our service.

The app is set up to accept cookies automatically, as the app will not function without them. You also have the option of deleting these stored cookies from your smart device at any time.

Links to other websites
Our app may contain links to other websites. This privacy policy does not cover third party providers. We have no control over whether the hosts of these websites observe data protection regulations and therefore cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, current validity or completeness of the information provided there.
