First Riu hotel opens in London

  • At the end of July the new Riu Plaza London Victoria opened and is located opposite Victoria Station, close to Buckingham Palace and Big Ben.

RIU Hotels & Resorts, a long-standing joint venture partner of the TUI Group, has opened its first hotel in the UK: the Riu Plaza London Victoria. The new four-star-hotel with 435 rooms is located in central London, in the borough of Westminster. Famous sights such as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and many other attractions are within walking distance.

The new city hotel follows a minimalist and modern line. The twelve-storey building was constructed in the 1960s and already extensively renovated in the 1990s. In the current redesign, attention was now paid to energy efficiency and much emphasis was placed on design and comfort. The hotel's gastronomic offer includes a lobby bar and a restaurant. A fitness room is available to guests 24-hours.

The first hotel of the Riu Plaza Urban Line was opened in Panama in 2010. Since then, the hotel chain has been continuously expanding into tourist-appealing cities around the world. The location in the centre of the metropolises is one of the trademarks of the Riu Plaza hotels. After openings in cities such as Panama, Berlin or New York, the Riu Plaza London Victoria is the tenth Plaza Hotel.
