Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Karl J. Pojer named Seatrade European Cruise Personality of the Year

On September 6, Karl J. Pojer, Chief Executive Officer of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, was named Seatrade European Cruise Personality of the Year. The accolade was announced at the Seatrade Cruise Awards 2017 ceremony held in Hamburg, Germany on the occasion of Seatrade Europe 2017. The Awards, sponsored by V.Ships Leisure, mark the sixth year of presenting these accolades at Seatrade Europe and the winners selected by Seatrade and V.Ships Leisure, based on nominations received.

The Seatrade European Cruise Personality of the Year Award recognises Karl J. Pojer’s entrepreneurial skills and strategic effort to further strengthen Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ reputation as one of the world’s leading luxury and expedition cruise lines. With the acquisition of EUROPA 2, the continuous enhancements of the existing fleet, the growth of the expedition segment, his dedication to quality, and his overall commitment to the cruise industry as CLIA Chairman for Germany, Mr. Pojer has shown great drive and enthusiasm.

The winner of the Seatrade Cruise Personality Of The Year is chosen for their drive and personality, their business acumen, their sense of entrepreneurism and for a significant milestone achieved in the given year. “We feel that Karl fits these criteria very well, particularly looking at what Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is doing on the newbuild front and in the luxury and expedition cruising arena,” said Mary Bond, brand director, content Seatrade Portfolio.
