All TUI Group Airlines to implement new cockpit safety regulations

With immediate effect all six airlines of the TUI Group, Thomson Airways, TUIfly, Jetairfly, Arkefly, TUIfly Nordic and Corsair have introduced a new regulation that two members of the flight crew will be in the cockpit at all times during the flight. If a pilot leaves the cockpit, a member of the cabin crew will sit in the cockpit’s jump seat until that pilot returns. “We believe this new regulation will meet our customers and crews heightened need for safety”, says Henrik Homann, Managing Director Aviation of TUI Group. He also points out: “As a holiday airline the most valuable asset we have is our passengers‘ trust and confidence in our safety. We make no compromises in that respect.” TUI Group is the leading travel group in the world. Its six airlines operate a fleet of 140 aircraft.

TUI fully supports the joint approach of the European Airlines to quickly introduce the new regulation. “At times like these we should be aware that our guests and crews on board may feel concerned and it is essential that we do all we can to make them feel even more at ease”, says Henrik Homann and continues “We are united in mourning and solidarity with our colleagues at Lufthansa and Germanwings.”
